This past weekend we held our very first Glamping Life Rally at Seasons in the Sun RV Resort in Mims Florida. The purpose of hosting this was to gather all of our glamping friends that we have met at different campgrounds along the way, introduce our new business to get ideas of what they like, dislike and would like to see in our online store in the future.
Several guests arrived in the rally circle on Thursday afternoon, others arrived Friday. We started off by welcoming each glampsite with a treat bag, water, the weekend agenda and homemade dog treats if they had four legged glampers with them. At dark we had scheduled a campfire and meet and greet, complete with a s’more bar but we were sadly rained out.
Saturday morning, the Rally Masters were up early getting our crock pot meals started for the sit down dinner at the clubhouse. That afternoon we had played games such as corn hole, ladder golf, bocce ball, phase 10, and minute to win it. Many participated and all had a good time. The weather was perfect, partly sunny, not to hot and a nice breeze.
At 6 pm all of our guests were invited to the clubhouse for appetizers and our signature cocktail “Glamping Goombays.” Let’s just say they sure creep up quick on you! During this time everyone was asked to vote on different artwork that was displayed for future product designs. This was good feedback for us. We had all our “coming soon” products displayed to touch and see as well as a slideshow of what hasn’t yet arrived. Once everyone was seated, while the board of directors gathered on stage and our President John introduced all of the other 4 board members and told our story.
Dinner was served at 7. We had Mojo Pulled Pork, Asian Pulled Pork, Lemon Garlic Chicken, Broccoli Salad, Rice and Beans, Rolls, Tortilla Wraps, and several toppings to make it your way. Of course we had way too much food. It’s better to have too much than too little! After dinner everyone went there own ways for about an hour, several guests stayed to help us get everything cleaned up and put away. At dark, we met around the rally fire ring for our S’more Bar. We offered graham crackers, marshmallows, Reeses peanut butter cups, Hershey’s chocolate bars, and chocolate fudge striped cookies. We even had S’more butlers for those that wanted a S’more but didn’t feel like preparing it themselves. A fun time had by all. Even the dogs sat around the campfire, hoping to get a snack.
Sunday morning most of our guests were packing up to head home and some were staying another night. We served coffee, juice, banana nut, pumpkin, cinnamon and chocolate chip muffins at one of our sites. Just something quick for those packing up and heading home. Many sat around talking about the weekend and where they were off to next.
I think the weekend was a hit and everyone seemed to have a good time at our first Glamping Life Rally. It was a lot of planning and hard work but hearing everyone say how much they enjoyed being there, talking about future rallies, how good the food was, and being excited about our products just made it feel so rewarding!
