First Stop: Savannah, GA

Recently we took off on a Friday, landed in Savannah for two nights at Red Gate Campground and RV Resort.  It is a great place to glamp if you are looking to explore Downtown Savannah as it is about six miles away. Old Town Trolley Tours will pick you up at the front gate in the morning and drop you off downtown.  You can get on and off all day and it will drop you off back at the campground in the evening.  The trolley is perfect to see all the sights Savannah has to offer with the guide telling you the history as you pass by.

There are so many delicious places to eat and drink!  Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room was highly recommended to us by several friends.  Unfortunately, after walking several blocks, which seemed like forever, we got there only to find that they are closed on weekends.  It gives us a reason to go back!  We ate lunch at Crystal Beer Parlor where we had a must try Fried Manouri Cheese appetizer!

It was extremely hot and humid as it was the last week of July.  To cool off we stopped at Wet Willie’s for some frozen drinks!

After we were tired of walked we rode the trolley back to the campground.  We decided to explore some of the trails on our bikes; after all we ate we needed some exercise.  We searched Google for Fried Chicken in Savannah and found Sisters of the New South, so we jumped in the truck and headed towards Skidaway Island to try it out.  Lets say it is a MUST if you are ever down for some good ole southern fried goodness!
